So many people are intimidated by performing that I wanted to put out a challenge to put yourself out there. Currently, there’s a “game” on FaceBook that invites you to challenge your friends to jump into icy waters, also known as the Polar Plunge.
I thought about this and felt that this could be turned around for us pianists in a most positive way! Why not put out a call for a Piano Plunge? So far, several Sonata Piano Camp participants and Summer Sonatina International Piano Camp students have participated. They are all receiving great feedback and support.
Here’s what I posted on FaceBook: Take the Piano Plunge! It’s safer and far more rewarding than jumping into cold water. Videotape the start of a favorite piano piece you’re currently working on. Then challenge your pianist friends to do the same! Let us see if Summer Sonatina International Piano Camp and Sonata Piano Camp participants can have a high showing of FB and Twitter sharings! Copy, paste and tag/challenge your friends now. 1, 2, 3, GO!
It’s not possible to post your video here on wordpress unless you have your own blog or account. However, if you’re on FaceBook, Twitter, or Yahoogroups, (or possibly Tumblr), you can upload a video very nicely. Feel free to come back to this page and mention your participation in the comments, below.
I love facilitating these kinds of musical challenges and hope you do, too! It’s a great way to encourage overcoming your performance hurdles and form a greater community of pianists.
